You can apply for authorisation as an AETO through the MyBar portal. Guidance is available in the portal to help you to understand the type of evidence to submit with an application.
It is also available here. Applications must also be accompanied by fee payment of £250 for the cost of an initial review.
In most cases, no further costs will be necessary. If we require more information due to the complexity or scale of your proposed training pathway, we may need to bring in an Expert Advisor costing up to £400 per day.
We may visit an AETO that is seeking authorisation.

Existing providers of pupillage training
If you were previously approved by us to provide pupillage, and you want to continue to do so in the future, you must also meet the criteria for authorisation set out in the Authorisation Framework. You must apply for authorisation as an AETO, if you have not already done so.
