The BSB publishes Annual Report for 2013-14

28 July 2014

The Bar Standards Board has now published its 2013-14 Annual Report, which outlines the significant progress we have made towards our strategic aims. This included:

  • launching a new BSB Handbook and revised Code of Conduct and allowing self-employed barristers to apply for authorisation to conduct litigation
  • embarking upon an exciting programme of work to collaborate and build relationships with consumer organisations, so that, together, we are better positioned to safeguard clients and protect the public;
  • embracing the independent review of legal education and training (LETR) and setting out an ambitious plan for transforming legal education and training for barristers and those who aspire to join the profession;
  • putting in place new systems and structures so as to become more risk- and evidence-based in how we work and regulate; and
  • working with the Bar Council to consolidate our premises - from seven floors to two -to save costs and demonstrate value for money for the profession that funds us.
