In January 2024 the BSB launched a consultation on amending the definition of academic legal training. We are grateful for all the thoughtful responses we received to the consultation and engagement with it. We have decided not to move forward with the proposals as suggested in the consultation to prioritise other matters in the public interest. Our existing waivers and exemptions process in place will continue to apply. If and when we do decide to re-open this consultation, we will follow our usual processes to engage on this topic with all our stakeholders in advance and we will consult again.
