We have introduced a new Pupillage Self-Service registration process, making it quicker and more efficient for pupillage providers and pupils to complete the registration process.

From today, all new pupillage registrations must be completed through the MyBar portal. The new process will enable Pupillage Authorised Education and Training Organisations (Pupillage AETOs) to start the registration process before sending it to the pupil to complete, with final sign-off by us.

The new process is being introduced as part of our work to enhance our regulatory services through the use of technology.

The process will:

  • streamline registrations,

  • improve the experience for pupillage providers and pupils, and

  • support more effective communication throughout the registration process.

The processes for non-practising (“1st Six”) sign-off, practising (“2nd Six”) sign-off and material changes remain unchanged. These will continue to be managed by the our Authorisations Team.

The introduction of the Pupillage Self-Service registration process is the first step in our wider programme of work to enhance the administration of pupillage.

A BSB spokesperson said: “The introduction of the Pupillage Self-Service registration process is an important step in improving the way pupillage registrations are managed. By embracing technology, we aim to make the process quicker and more efficient for pupillage providers and pupils, while improving how we communicate with them. We will continue to review the wider pupillage processes and provide further updates as this work progresses.”
