Transparency Standards seminar

Should barristers be obliged to publish their fees online?

We are hosting a seminar to discuss key questions like this, and others, in relation to our recently launched Transparency Standards consultation.

The seminar will be on Tuesday 21 November, 6.30pm - 8pm in The Dickens Suite at Holborn Bars, London, EC1N 2NQ. The session will focus on the recommendations outlined in our new consultation to promote transparency of the fees, services and redress offered by the Bar, following the Competition and Markets Authority report into the legal services market.

The seminar will give you the opportunity to hear and comment on the principles guiding our proposals so that your views can inform any future approach in these areas. Vanessa Davies, Director General of the Bar Standards Board, will chair an open discussion at the seminar to consider the themes further. Light refreshments and a drinks reception will be provided.

Learning outcome: Develop how you work with clients to ensure transparency about instructions and fees. Understand how these developments will affect your practice.

The session will be streamed live and a video recording of the event will be uploaded on to our website. Please bear this in mind during the evening.

If you would like to attend, or you would like any further information, please email ContactUs@BarStandardsBoard.org.uk  stating the seminar/s you would like to attend with any accessibility and dietary requirements you may have by 8 November 2017. Please reply as soon as possible as spaces will be limited.

We will be hosting similar events in each Circuit. Further information will be included in our Regulatory Update and via the respective Circuit.
