Offence details:

Jenny Guan, an unregistered barrister, who was a Second Six Pupil at the time of the conduct, acted dishonestly by knowingly misleading or attempting to mislead her pupil supervisor when she, in an email at or around 16.48 on 29 November 2023, in response to a request from her pupil supervisor, provided a redacted copy of her draft advice that she had apparently sent to her peer, a barrister external to her Chambers but omitted to explain that this was a copy of the document which she had recreated after her pupil supervisor’s request, rather than the original which was sent to her peer.

Jenny Guan, an unregistered barrister, who was a Second Six Pupil at the time of the conduct, acted dishonestly by knowingly misleading or attempting to mislead her pupil supervisor when, in conversation with her pupil supervisor on 30 November 2023, she stated that she had not sent any other work to her peer, a barrister external to her Chambers, or anyone else when she had shared other documents externally.

Sanction:
The BSB was ordered not to issue Miss Guan with a practising certificate for two years, pending any appeal.
