Unregistered barrister Mujibur Ibrahim was ordered to be disbarred by an independent Disciplinary Tribunal at a hearing on Monday, 7 November, following charges brought by the Bar regulator.
The Tribunal's decision follows Mr Ibrahim's conviction in October 2015 on two counts of theft of cash and gold bars from his then employer, Leicestershire Police. Mr Ibrahim was employed as a financial crime investigator. He was sentenced to a four-year custodial sentence.
BSB Director of Professional Conduct Sara Jagger said: "A criminal conviction of dishonesty is clearly incompatible with the standards expected of those at the Bar and the decision to disbar Mr Ibrahim reflects this."
Mr Ibrahim was Called to the Bar in March 2014, but did not complete pupillage and has therefore never held a practising certificate.
