“My Bar” portal to be launched

We are launching a new portal to replace Barrister Connect called My Bar. From February 2018, My Bar will become theonly place to renew your practising certificate online. We will of course make reasonable adjustments for those with disabilities who cannot use the portal.

Over time, My Bar will be the one stop shop for all your self-service needs. It will include easy-to-use, online automated booking and application processes to make managing your professional practice simpler and more straightforward, and to save you time.

A safe and secure platform, My Bar will in its first release be the place to go if you want to:

  • keep your personal, contact and practising details up to date; including equality and diversity information.
  • access tailored news in one convenient location and manage your communication preferences with both your representative body and your regulator.
  • be authorised to practise and pay your practising certificate fee; whether renewing, returning to practice or applying for your first practising certificate.
  • access a copy of any of your previous practising certificates as far back as 2001.
  • notify us of any changes to your practising status, including notifying us if you no longer wish to be registered.

Look out for more details about how you can register. Registration is quick and easy and My Bar has been rigorously tested.

Please note that when registering with "My Bar" you will be asked to provide a unique email address.

We hope that you will enjoy using the new system, which has been designed with the user experience in mind.
