BSB statement on February 2015 position on QASA

3 February 2015

A BSB spokesperson said: "In October 2014 the BSB said that in the New Year it would update its position on the Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates - taking into account the on-going legal proceedings. At its Board meeting on 29 January 2015 it was noted that the Supreme Court has not yet reached a decision on whether to allow the claimants in the case to appeal against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which found the Scheme was lawful. As it is uncertain when that decision will be available, the Board decided we should in the meantime explore other ways in which we can properly protect the public from poor standards of advocacy."
