Offence details:

Sibel Gumus, an unregistered barrister, behaved in a way which was likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in her or in the profession and/or practised without a practising certificate, in that she had held herself out as a barrister while supplying legal services by sending an email, on the 5th of September 2016, from the professional address of her then solicitors employers (London Solicitors LLP) with the designation “LLB Hons- Barrister at Law” beneath her name when she did not have a practising certificate.

Sibel Gumus, an unregistered barrister, behaved in a way which was likely to dimmish the trust and confidence which the public places in her or in the profession and/or practised without a practicing certificate and/or misled a person to whom she supplied or offered to supply legal services about her entitlement to supply those services, in that, in or about April 2015, she orally represented to G that she was permitted to act on her behalf as a barrister and would be able to do so by completing and submitting to the Home Office an application in an immigration matter when she was not permitted to provide such legal services on G’s behalf and when did not have a practicing certificate.

Sibel Gumus, an unregistered barrister, failed to act in the best interests of her client and/or behaved in a way which was likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in her or the profession, in that, in or around April 2015, and/or in or around November 2015, she received payment from her client, G, to draft and submit an application in an immigration matter, and she thereafter failed to submit an application any such application, thereby gaining financially when she not have done.
