Stephen Bane, an unregistered barrister, behaved in a way which was likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in him or in the profession, in that, between 21 July 2016 and 26 September 2016, he failed to inform client A that the costs claim had settled in circumstances where the client clearly stated that he needed to be involved in the decision at every stage.

Stephen Bane, an unregistered barrister, failed to act with integrity and acted in a way which could reasonably be seen by the public to undermine his integrity, in that, on 12 August 2016, he caused or allowed misleading statements to be made to solicitors of client A in relation to the costs claim referred to in allegation 1, which statements would have also misled client A, in failing to expressly disclose to the solicitors and to Client A the settlement, which settlement was not disclosed until 26 September 2016.
