On 21 April 2020, the Legal Ombudsman (LeO) directed that Robert Cowley should comply with the Ombudsman’s decision to pay £300 compensation to his former client by 5 May 2020 (subsequently extended to 5 June 2020). Robert Cowley failed to make the payment of £300 to Client 1. By so doing: (a) Robert Cowley behaved in a way which is likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in him or in the profession (CD5); (b) Robert Cowley failed to take reasonable steps to manage his practice competently and in such a way as to achieve compliance with his legal and regulatory obligations (CD10); (c) Robert Cowley failed to give all reasonable assistance requested of him in connection with the debt.
