Possession of drugs

Barrister "B" was found in possession of prohibited drugs (class B) and cautioned by the police. Following receipt of a letter from the police, under the Notifiable Occupation Scheme, the BSB raised an internal complaint against B for conduct likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in the profession. Following completion of the investigation, the Professional Conduct Committee decided to refer the case to a Disciplinary Tribunal, on one charge of professional misconduct. B admitted the offence and was reprimanded by the tribunal and fined £250.
