The Bar Standards Board has its own Equality and Diversity Committee chaired by a lay member - Sally Hawkins. The Committee is responsible for:

• scrutinizing Equality and Diversity Impact Assessments to ensure that the BSB's functions have given due consideration to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality;
• identifying and reporting regularly to the Board on areas of risk in relation to equality and diversity issues and compliance with relevant legislation;
• championing equality and diversity issues with the Board, its committees and within the BSB generally.

The Board and the Equality and Diversity Committtee are supported by an Equality and Diversity Adviser who reports directly to the Director of the BSB.
